According to a new report, the beautiful Volvo Concept Coupe could enjoy a limited production run as Volvo’s board of directors may greenlight the company to build a small run of the car with the aid of Italian coachbuilder Bertone.
With inspiration from the classic P1800, the Volvo Concept Coupe is actually a thoroughly modern slice of engineering: it has a plug-in hybrid powertrain that pairs a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric drive motor on the rear axle for a combined output of about 400 hp and 490 pound-feet of torque.
According to German magazine Auto Bild, the concept got a warm welcome from the press, the professionals and customers but in the event it does reach a limited production run, the expensive powertrain could be substituted for a more conventional plug-in hybrid solution or even a non hybrid one.
