Report – VW wants the I.D. electric crossover to storm the United States image

While only third in the family of electric VW concepts after the introduction of the I.D. hatchback and I.D. Buzz van, the I.D. Crozz, who premiered in April at Auto Shanghai is set to come earlier in America.

According to various rumors, the first to see the light of day as a production model will naturally be the I.D. concept, the hatchback that is expected to debut with a focus on the European market. Now a new report is putting next in line after the hatchback the electric crossover – because the Buzz, a modern reinterpretation of the famed microbus hasn’t been approved yet. This means the I.D. Crozz will actually be the first electric offering from VW reaching the United States – sometime after the I.D.’s debut in Europe – meaning 2020 or even 2021. The latter will be an European affair only – which makes us wonder about the impact on sales it could have when leaving out important markets such as China or America.

Now with the I.D. and I.D. Crozz both announced for production – more official than not – it remains to be seen what will happen with the Buzz. The German brand has yet to sort it out if they want the microbus follower to reach markets or not, sources claiming issues with the MEB modular architecture for this particular vehicle. Even if it makes the cut, everyone expects to see it in the distant future – after 2025.

I understand bringing crossover to the states first but they shouldn’t deny the VW hatchback faithful the ID hatch altogether.
