Arnold Schwarzenegger is having a blast in Austria with Kreisel Electric and its projects – the G Class and Hummer H1 prototypes are green but just as tough – but if he ever fancies a return to ICE, then the upcoming Rezvani Motors Tank SUV would be a natural choice.
After first announcing the impending introduction of a performance SUV a while back, Rezvani is now back with new info and also the confirmation its hulking machine will get an appropriate name – the Tank. It’s going to be powered by a lumbering 6.4-liter V8 good for 500 horsepower (373 kilowatts) and 430 lb-ft (583 Nm) of torque in its top specification, and even comes with military-inspired touches such as optional armored body panels. According to a report citing CEO Ferris Rezvani, the other engine option for the Tank is a more sensible 3.6-liter V6 with 285 horsepower (213 kilowatts) and 260 pound-feet (353 Newton-meters).
Naturally, on-demand four-wheel drive will be standard across the range, while the military-derived features also include a thermal camera for operating at night and the aforementioned armored body panels. The exterior’s boxy design is a natural nod to the Jeep Wrangler, Land Rover Defender, Mercedes-Benz G-Class, and joins them off-road with help from the body-on-frame chassis, all-terrain tires, and “a world-class suspension system.”
