The Rinspeed XchangeE Concept will be officially presented to the public next year, in a premiere, during the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
Self-driving cars are imminent and we are probably just a few years away until the first ones will become available for order on a mass scale and just two decades away from looking back and wondering how people were able to drive themselves every day, just like were looking today 100 years back at carriages and horses. One of the first companies to take advantage of the self-driving vehicles is Rinspeed and the Swiss based design house will officially present the XchangE Concept next year, in Geneva.
“So far, hardly anyone has taken this to its logical conclusion from the perspective of the driver. After all, traveling in a driverless car will no longer require me to stare at the road, but will let me spend my time in a more meaningful way”, said Frank M. Rinderknecht, the Rinspeed boss.
The new Rinspeed XchangE Concept is based on a Tesla Models S and it’s a fully electric touring sedan which seats inspired from major airlines’ business class. The model in question will get several safety, service and entertainment functions and it has been designed in order to allow the driver to relax. Sadly the carmaker didn’t release any other details on the model so we’re not sure about its performance, total driving range and so on, but these will come to light once it will make its public debut in March, 2014.
