The British based luxury automaker Rolls-Royce is planning to develop a crossover which might be based on the upcoming BMW X7 and it may hit the market over the following years.
With its main rival Bentley also planning to develop an SUV, or with Lamborghini having the same thoughts, Rolls-Royce can’t be indifferent when talking about this subject and it seems that the company is planning to develop a crossover of its own. The announcement has been made by the carmaker’s CEO, Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes, who has recently spoken to Bloomberg.
“We are intensively thinking about entering the SUV segment. The SUV segment is very interesting. It has been incredibly stable during the crisis, and I think a luxury niche will develop”, said Mueller-Oetvoes.
The upcoming Rolls-Royce SUV is currently in the early stages of development as the company’s designers are currently creating sketches of the proposed model. The carmaker will evaluate the sketches before deciding on whether the model will get the green lights for production or it will be abandoned. Rumors are saying that the new Rolls-Royce SUV will be based on the X7. Additional details on the subject are limited for the moment and will probably be announced over the following years.
