Rolls-Royce names BMW veteran Frank Ludwig its new director of manufacturing.
Frank Ludwig, 42, joins Rolls Royce from BMW’s plant in Leipzig, Germany, where he served as director for the facility’s body, press and paint shops. Ludwig has already started the new job earlier this month, replacing Joerg Bause, 60, who left Rolls-Royce for a senior position at BMW’s operations in South Africa.
Although Ludwig is a German national, he has lived and worked in the UK for the past 8 years. He started his career at BMW in 2002, as a general manager of body-in-white manufacturing at the Mini brand in Oxford, England. Before joining BMW, he worked at Porsche beginning with 1998 until 2002, as a project leader for corporate and strategy development.
“With his extensive experience, I am confident that [Ludwig] is ideally suited to further develop on the impressive results that have been achieved by Joerg Bause over the past three years,” Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes said in a statement.
