Famous car collector Rowan Atkinson has sold his rare and iconic supercar, the McLaren P1, for a whopping 12 million USD (8 million GBP).
Rowan Atkinson has been rumored to looking to sell his McLaren F1 for quite some time now and according to a recent report, he managed to do that recently. The buyer has paid no less than 8 million GBP for the supercar, which is the equivalent of 12 million USD. The vehicle has been purchased by Rowan Atkinson when it was brand new, back in 1997, for 640,000 GBP, and during its 17 year life it was driven for 41,000 miles.
The famous British actor is known for his passion in vehicles so it is no surprise that he has used this particular McLaren P1 as often as possible and he even took it shopping a few times. The iconic supercar has been crashed two times, with the first one occurring in 1999 and the second one in 2011. The most recent accident has apparently cost him 1 million GBP to repair his ride. This McLaren P1 is number 64 of 107 and it is an extremely rare vehicle to come across. At the time of its production, 1992 – 1998, it was the fastest road-legal vehicle money could buy. Power is being provided by the 6.1 liter V12 engine, rated at 627 HP (468 kW) and 651 Nm (480 lb-ft) of torque, connected to the 6-speed manual transmission. The 0 – 60 mph sprint takes 3.2s and top speed is 241 mph.
