Scion, clinic at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show has unveiled its new 600-horsepower Formula DRIFT challenger in the form of the latest 2013 Scion FR-S rear-wheel drive sports coupe.
Built jointly by Scion and GReddy – a performance-products company that has been involved with Toyota and racing for over twenty years – this new vehicle will be competing in the 2012 Formula DRIFT series with veteran driver Ken Gushi.
According to Scion, Gushi’s drift car produces 600-hp and over 500 lb-ft of torque. Why are such insane power numbers necessary? Because getting sideways and staying there requires tire-frying horsepower.
While testing hasn’t been done yet, Hollis expects its fuel efficiency to rank higher than other cars in the rear-wheel drive sports car segment.
We can’t wait to see this thing go sideways.
