SEAT Leon TwinDrive Ecomotive prototype unveiled image

After presenting us with the the automaker has decided that its Leon hatchback is probably another good start for placing the first step into the electric vehicle segment, so this is how the Leon TwinDrive Ecomotive was born.

“The Leon TwinDrive Ecomotive is an exciting and ground-breaking solution. Technically, it allows you to drive in all-electric mode, while at the same time enjoying smart hybrid drive. Thanks to its great range, none of our customers will need to change their lifestyle or transport habits”, said the SEAT executive vice president for R&D, Dr. Matthias Rabe.

According to the Spanish based automaker, the SEAT Leon TwinDrive Ecomotive is offering a 52 km range in all-electric mode, with a top speed of 120 km/h, and when the vehicle is using both the electric motor and combustion engine, the top speed goes up to 170 km/h.

SEAT says that the Leon TwinDrive Ecomotive will be tested just like the Altea XL Electric Ecomotive and the full production vehicle is expected to arrive in 2015, but this is all the info we have for now on the Spanish eco-friendly vehicles.
