Seat teases its upcoming flagship SUV image

Talk about globalization – this is a teaser for a Spanish-branded SUV inspired by a Czech crossover that will actually be produced in Germany. Or we could call this Europenization…

Sat has officially taken the wraps off its first ever SUV model – the Ateca – just last year, and it’s already gearing up to be a massive sales hit. Before the end of the year the company will up the stakes with the introduction – most likely in Frankfurt – of the first subcompact, Ibiza-based Arona crossover. And soon enough – next year – the company in Martorell will expand its newly formed SUV range with a third additional entry in the form of a flagship model, a midsize crossover packing five- and seven-seat versions.

But with the company’s plant in Spain fully booked, the latest member of the Seat family will actually see the assembly process take place at parent’s Volkswagen facility in Wolfsburg, Germany. This midsize model will become the brand’s flagship entry and is most likely a close relative to the Skoda Kodiaq, underpinned by the all-flexible and now ubiquitous MQB platform. Seat’s chief Luca de Meo has so far hinted the new SUV will follow suit and be named after a city in Spain. Technical specifications should also follow closely those of the Czech-branded SUV.
