Fisker Automotive has recently announced that a second 2012 Karma model is going under investigation after causing a fire in Woodside, California last week.
A new Fisker Karma which was “involved” in a fire on Saturday evening is the cause for a new investigation on the model and the company has announced that it has tapped a private investigation firm in order to help it uncover the cause of the fire in Woodside, California.
“Evidence revealed thus far supports the fact that the ignition source was not the lithium-ion battery pack, new technology components or unique exhaust routing”, said the most recent statement on the latest Fisker Karma fire.
At this time it is unknown whether or not the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will get involved in this investigation but if a problem is found in the 2012 Fisker Karma, the feds will probably announce a recall.
As a quick reminder, a 2012 Fisker Karma has burst into flames for no obvious reason on Saturday evening, in front of a supermarket, while its owner was doing some grocery shopping. The luxury vehicle has suffered significant damages to the front left corner and when the owner came out of the shop, he called 911. The Woodside Fire Department came immediately and no one was hurt. This is the second incident involving the Fisker Karma and a fire.
