Toyota has recently unveiled the Chinese version of the Yaris, along with the FT-HT Yuejia and the Yundong Shuangqing II concept cars, during the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show.
According to the Japanese based automaker, the Toyota Yaris in question has been specially developed for the local Chinese market and the model should enter production later on this year. The Toyota Yaris will also receive a sedan version, which will be named the Vios, but, again, this will also be put into production by the end of 2013.
“The new Yaris and the new “Vios” sedan—also on display—are production versions of global-strategic concept models that TMC first displayed at last year’s Beijing Motor Show. Production and sales in China of both vehicles are scheduled to start at the end of this year”, as the automaker is saying in its official press release.
Besides the Toyota Yaris, the carmaker has also unveiled the FT-HT Yuejia concept. This is a six-seater car aimed at younger customers, which has three rows of two individual seats. The model is powered by a hybrid powertrain and it’s expected to receive a production version for the Chinese market. The Yundong Shuangqing II is another concept car, which will enter production too. This model will also be aimed exclusively towards China and it also has a hybrid powertrain.
