Shanghai VW Sold Over 75,000 Units in June in China image

Shanghai Volkswagen’s sales in June were up 6.6% to 75, seek 806 units compared to the same period last year.

The old Lavida compact sold 110,577 units from January to June, continuing to perform strongly. Sales of the Tiguan urban SUV increased 37% in June, to 13,103 units and 76,312 units from January to June.

Last week Shanghai Volkswagen celebrated its 8,000,000th sedan that rolled off the assembly line. The blue New Lavida sedan marked a new milestone for the joint venture, which is one of China’s earliest auto JVs. In September 2011 Shanghai VW produced the 7,000,000th sedan. This means that it took the company only 9 months to manufacture 1,000,000 sedans. Currently Shanghai VW has four auto plants in China and plans to build new factories in Ningbo, Zhejiang and Yizheng, Jiangsu.
