Ford has officially announced the official performance details of the new Shelby GT350 and the Shelby GT350R.
After telling us about the launch of the two performance models a few weeks back, Ford has placed them into the spotlights once again, this time by announcing some interesting figures about them. According to the “blue oval”, the 5.2 liter flat-plane crank V8 engine which is found on the two vehicles is the “most power-dense and the most powerful naturally aspirated road-going engine in Ford history”.
The initial details of the vehicle were stating that the new Ford GT350 and the GT350R will be producing more than 500 HP (373 kW) and 542 Nm (400 lb-ft) of torque, but the car manufacturer has recently confirmed the final output, which stands at 526 HP (392 kW) and 580 Nm (429 lb-ft) of torque. No performance specifics have been announced but we do know that the redline is at 8,250 rpm, making it the highest-revving V8 in the company’s history.
“The Shelby GT350 program began with a clear objective – create the most balanced, nimble and exhilarating production Mustang yet. Every change we made to this car was driven by the functional requirements of a powerful, responsive powerplant. The high-revving, naturally aspirated 5.2-liter flat-plane V8 delivers on every target we set – high horsepower, broad torque curve, aggressive throttle response and light weight”, said the Ford Performance chief engineer, Jamal Hameedi.
