The recently unveiled Shelby 350R Mustang has allegedly lapped the Ring in just 7:32.19.
A staggering record has been achieved by the recently unveiled Shelby 350R Mustang, as the impressive muscle car has managed to lap the Nurburgring in a time of 7:32.19. This is basically making it 5 seconds faster on the lap compared to the Camaro Z/28, which did it in 7:37.40. The official time of the model in question hasn’t been provided officially and it is actually part of a report published recently by Horsepowerkings.
The Shelby GT350R Mustang has been officially presented to the public just earlier this month, during the 2015 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), in Detroit. The model in question is a significant upgrade compared to the Shelby GT350 Mustang and it has received a series of aerodynamic improvements, along with chassis engineering and some dropped weight which are translated into a faster vehicle with improved handling.
The muscle car is also packing a new body kit, with a hood vent, updated fender vents, a more aerodynamic diffuser, a front splitter, a carbon fiber rear wing and several other tweaks. At the moment, the only performance specifications on it are indicating a 5.2 liter V8 naturally aspirated V8 engine under its hood, which is producing more than 500 HP (368 kW) and 542 Nm (400 lb-ft) of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and a Torsen limited slip differential. The first example of the muscle car has been sold for no less than 1,000,000 USD during the recent Barrett-Jackson auction, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
