Shelby American was fast on offer with the Super Snake version of the ongoing generation Mustang, but only now has decided to also treat it to the wide body kit variant.
Better late than never, as the saying goes, but fans will be heartbroken to find out this is actually merely a concept – Shelby’s first in more than a decade – that was conceived for the 5th Annual Carroll Shelby Tribute and Car Show, and there’s no information if the package will trickle down to the production line. Shelby does give fans a measure of peace because it says that – if, and only if – it will make it into production, it will be offered on a global scale and become part of the official Shelby Registry. The kit adds two and a half inches (6.3 centimeters) to the front and an extra four (10 cm) at the rear get the Mustang looking all beefed-up.
The Super Snake is of course starting life as a GT, and the concept also arrives with new front fenders, with an additional pair of vents to increase cooling credentials. The larger wheel housings can now engulf 20-inch alloys wrapped in Michelin performance tires as well as Brembo brakes with 16-inch front rotors paired with six-piston calipers and 14-inch rear rotors backed by four-piston calipers. The list of upgrades is actually much more extensive – it also adds all elements needed from a fully adjustable coil over suspension system to supercharger kit to the V8. This translates into 750 horsepower – just like you would have in the 2017 50th Anniversary Shelby Super Snake.
