After bidding 525.5 million dollars to buy Liverpool Football Club last year, Singapore billionaire Peter Lim has decided to move away from sports and enter into the automotive industry by investing in McLaren Automotive.
“Peter Lim’s track record in Asia as a highly respected business leader adds further quality to our board in this highly competitive business environment at an exciting time for the company”, said the McLaren Automotive and McLaren Group executive chairman Ron Dennis in a statement.
Being ranked by Forbes Asia number eight on Singapore’s rich list, with an estimated fortune of 1.8 billion US dollars, “Remisier King” has joined McLaren Automotive’s board with immediate effect.
Peter Lim also has exclusive rights to operate and own a chain of Manchester United-themed restaurants and bars on the Asian Continent.
McLaren says that the demand for the new MP4-12C supercar in Asia is strong and the collaboration with the Singapore billionaire has all the chances to take the British automaker to a whole new level.
