Mercedes will deliver 450 Citaro buses to Singapore beginning the fall of 2012.
Mercdes received an order of 450 Citaro buses from Singapore’s SBS Transit, the most important public transportation company in the city. The buses will be delivered beginning this fall until 2015. In April 2011 SBS Transit made an order of 300 Mercedes-Benz Citaro, and the last of these vehicles are currently being delivered. Now the company made another order of 450 units, all complying with the Euro 5 emission standard.
The buses will be produced at the EvoBus plant in Mannheim, adapted to be used on Singapore’s roads. This is the biggest Asian order for the most successful city bus of all time, which saw production of over 33,000 units in 13 years. From May 20121, the EvoBus plant began production of the first series-production Citaro to meet the Euro VI emissions standard.
“SBS has ordered a total of 750 Citaro buses. An order as large as the most recent one offers strong proof that our buses deliver outstanding quality, as well as great environmental compatibility and reliability,” said the Head of Daimler Buses, Hartmut Schick.
