Today, April 5th, Skoda began production of the Octavia Combi at the Mlada Boleslav plant, Czech Republic.
The model was unveiled a few weeks ago at the Geneva Motor Show and now the first units of the Octavia Combi are rolling off the assembly line. Skoda promises for the third generation of this popular model, fuel-efficient engines, ‘Simply Clever’ features, top-level safety, lots of room and a dynamically elegant design.
“The ŠKODA Octavia Combi was 2012’s best selling estate in Europe,” says Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland, ŠKODA CEO. “The new generation has everything to continue this success in the coming years. The new Octavia Combi offers even more car, even more space and even more ‘Simply Clever’ solutions – in short: more ŠKODA”.
The automaker has prepared the Mladá Boleslav plant for the Octavia Combi production by modernizing and expanding it. The plant currently manufactures the Octavia/Octavia Combi and Rapid and capacity has been increased from 800 units to 1,200 units per day. Skoda has also added a new fully-automated paint shop for the interior, a new car body shop,a new state-of-the-art press line and a new state-of-the-art logistics warehouse will be opened in the following days.
“We are making huge investments in our production. The fact that we produce two out of three cars in Europe shows how important our home base is,” says Vahland.
