Skoda is believed to be working on a Rapid Coupe which should hit the market sometimes in 2014.
With the original Rapid Coupe being born in 1984, the model will be turning 30 years old next year and to celebrate the event, the Czech based automaker is believed to be working on a two-door version of the new Rapid. The model is apparently no surprise anymore as the company has already unveiled the Rapid Sport Concept earlier this year, at Worthersee, which is believed to serve as a starting point for the new Skoda Rapid Coupe.
The announcement hasn’t been made official just yet but according to the guys at autoblog.nl, the new Skoda Rapid Coupe is expected to hit the market with a 1.4 liter TSI engine, producing 122 HP, mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission. The regular engines found on the standard version of the Rapid or Rapid Spaceback will also become available on the new body style. Additional details on the Skoda Rapid Coupe are limited for the moment and will probably be announced next year, if the rumor turns out to be true, close to the model’s debut.
