Skoda unveiled cheaper Yeti in India

Skoda unveiled cheaper Yeti in India

Skoda, on Wednesday announced that has launched a cheaper two-wheel drive edition of its Yeti sport-utility vehicle. The model will hit the Indian market later this month and will start at Rs 13.35 lakh.

The new model will be available in two trim levels namely Active and Ambition, and will come with ESP (Electronic Stability Program), Hill Hold Control and the Vario Flex seating system.

Both trim levels get the 2.0-liter TDI engine that has been detuned to produce 110 Bhp and 250 Nm. A five-speed manual gearbox (a six-speed manual on the 4×4) comes as standard.

The Skoda Yeti has been awarded a 5-star safety rating by the Euro NCAP. According to the safety agency, the little SUV scored an impressive 92% adult occupant protection in the frontal and side crash tests, 78% child occupant protection and 46% in the pedestrian safety test.

In other news, the Czech automaker expects Rapid to become its flagship product in India, surpassing Fabia’s average sales of 1,500 units per month.

Skoda Auto that entered the Indian market in 2001 plans to expand showrooms to 100 in the country by the year-end from 90 at present.
The company aims to sell 30,000 cars this year, up from 21,000 cars last year, according to Dixit.
