Smart has recently revealed more photos and details with the for-us Concept, ahead of its official debut at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show.
After being teased and talked about for quite some time and with its debut being announced for a while now, the new Smart for-us Concept is once again being placed into the spotlights after its manufacturer has decided to reveal more photos and details about it ahead of its official debut at the 2012 North American International Auto Show, in Detroit. The Smart for-us Concept will definitely preview a production model or even the next generation of the ForTwo electric drive, and the public and media at the automotive event over-seas will play a major role in its future.
“We at Smart love pick-ups – if they are small on the outside, large on the inside, very safe and extremely comfortable. With the Smart for-us a petrol station is no longer required”, said the company’s CEO, Annette Winkler.
According to the car manufacturer, the Smart for-us Concept is 3.547 mm long, 1.506 mm wide and 1.701 mm high, and it comes with an electrically powered tailboard which opens and retracts inwards in order to prove a 900 mm cargo area. The model is powered by a 55 kW magneto-electric motor, the same one used on the ForTwo electric drive, which is generating a total output of 75 horsepower and it has a peak torque of 130 Nm (96 lb-ft). The maximum speed exceeds 120 km/h (75 mph) and the for-us Concept comes with a lithium-ion battery of 17.6 kWh.
