Smart Forstars Concept unveiled – going to Paris Motor Show image

The Smart Forstars Concept has been recently unveiled by the carmaker ahead of the model’s official debut on the 27th of September at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.

According to the car manufacturer, the Smart Forstars Concept is actually 33.7 inches longer than the ForTwo at 139, 8 inches (30 percent more) and it’s also 5.9 inches wider. The wheelbase of the Forstars concept has been stretched by over 24 percent and it’s now 97.2 inches, 23.7 inches longer than the ForTwo, being actually just 9 inches shorter in its wheelbase than the new generation of the five-door Mercedes-Benz A-Class. The Forstars concept’s height has dropped down by 1.4 inches to 59.3 inches.

The Smart Forstars is powered by the same drivetrain used by the outgoing Brabus Smart Electric, the magneto-electric motor which I producing a total output of 60 kW an 100 lb-ft of torque, along with a 17.5kW/hour battery. This is enough to assure a top speed of 81 mph. Smart says that the Forstars is getting an electrically operated tailgate, a movie projector, which can be operated by Bluetooth or with a smartphone, hammock-style seats developed at the Mercedes-Benz Lake Como studio in Italy, the interior mirror has been replaced by a cradle for a smartphone which is displaying footage from a rearview camera, 21-inch wheels wrapped in 245/35 Michelin tires and much more.
