Smart is planning to introduce the Cabrio version of its new ForTwo generation, as the model in question is expected to be going official sometimes this year.
If 2014 has brought us the new generation of the Smart ForTwo, 2015 will bring us a second body style of the model, the Cabrio, as it seems that the company has put aside the development of the ForTwo Brabus at the moment and focused on creating the drop-top variant. The announcement hasn’t been made official just yet and it is actually part of a report which has been signed by Auto Motor und Sport.
According to our source, the model in question will be heavily influenced by the standard version, which is already available for order, and it should be officially unveiled by the end of this year. If this turns out to be true, than we can expect the model to go on sale starting from 2016. Rumor has it that its starting price will be standing in at approximately 14,000 euros.
As you probably already know by now, the new Smart ForTwo generation has been shown last year. The model starts at 10,895 euros and it is coming with standard features such as the power windows, monochrome LCD display in the instrument cluster, LED daytime running lights and so on. The cheapest variant has a 71 HP (52 kW) and 91 Nm (67 lb-ft) 999cc 3-cylinder engine under its hood, along with a 1.0L 3-cylinder with 60 HP (45 kW) and 71 HP (52 kW).
