Smart takes the ForTwo and ForFour Electric Drive to German dealerships image

Smart’s trio of electric vehicles – the ForTwo can be had as a cabriolet as well – is now on sale at home in Germany, with the local environmental incentive scheme lowering the start price by more than €4,000.

Smart has opened the order books for the ForTwo Coupe and the ForFour Electric Drive, while the equally green zero-emissions ForTwo Cabrio will be up for grabs starting this May. The most affordable Smart EV will naturally be the ForTwo Coupe costing from €21,940 or just €17,558.84 once you take into account the applicable incentives. The ForFour starts off at €22,600, but the price tag is actually starting from €18,220. The most interesting is also going to be the costliest – the ForTwo Cabrio Electric Drive, kicking off at €25,200 or just under €21,000 with the eco factor included.

There’s also the ForTwo Electric Drive Greenflash which officially comes out at €27,839 – or €23,459if you do the incentive math as well. The car packs numerous electric green interior and exterior design accents. All of them, regardless, will use an electric motor delivering 81 horsepower (60 kilowatts) and an instant torque of 160 Newton-meters (118 pound-feet) to the rear axle. Top speed is electronically capped at 130 kph (almost 81 mph), while the battery pack will last approximately 160 km (100 miles).
