Special edition Hyundai Veloster Street Turbo emerges from Down Under image

Hyundai has launched in Australia a sportier edition of its Veloster, but only 200 examples will be produced.

Hyundai packed the limited-series Veloster Street Turbo Special Edition with 3,000-dollar worth of exclusive extra features above the Veloster Series II SR Turbo + on which it is based. The 200 customized units stand out through the contrast between the Dazzling Blue Mica paintwork and the exclusive semi-gloss black RAYS Gram Lights 17-inch alloy wheels, phantom Black inserts on the side skirts, front spoiler, grille surround, rear diffuser insert, side mirror covers and rear roof spoiler. Inside, it features the Turbo Sports Blue interior trim, which includes leather-appointed heated and ventilated front sports bucket seats with blue bolsters and blue contrast stitching, blue front seatbelts, blue front door grip handles and centre console side garnishes.

Like the Veloster Series II Turbo +, the Special Edition incorporates sports dials, 7-inch LCD touchscreen Satellite Navigation with CD player, MP3 and Sat Nav Update Plan, a panoramic glass sunroof, climate-control air-conditioning with auto defog function and other alluring features as well.

Similar to the “basic” model, the special edition has the suspensions and handling setups specifically tuned for the Australian customers. Street Turbo is powered by the 1.6-litre turbo GDi four-cylinder gamma engine that produces 201 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 265 Nm between 1,750 and 4,500 rpm. The unit can be matched to either Hyundai’s own six-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, for which the prices are 34,990 dollars and 37,490 dollars, respectively.
