The Blue Oval is seemingly preparing to dress up its recently facelifted Ecosport small SUV in sporty ST-Line attire, which is not a surprise considering the bigger brother Kuga, as well as the Fiesta and Focus are also popular with this sporty feature.
The ST Line models are wide and far apart, but it’s suitable for the Ecosport to also get the treatment – especially since it’s preparing for European production stating this autumn. A pre-production model, undergoing prototype testing, has been recently caught wearing the specific aero tweaks and body kit, along with the complimentary badges – and best of all it was caught completely uncamouflaged. As far as we can tell, the usual treatment is here – new bumpers up front and in the back, side skirts as well as sporty roof spoiler lend dynamic credence to the small crossover.
The Ecosport is a bit of a worldwide confusion game – it’s being produced in South America for the first ever upcoming appearance in North America, packing a naturally-aspirated 2-liter gasoline engine. It’s also being produced in India for the regional markets – complete with that vintage outer spare wheel – and will be manufactured in Romania for the European market. Here it will surely sport the 1.0 EcoBoost and 1.5-liter diesel, complete with optional AWD traction. It remains to be seen what will power the ST Line, which has sporty attire such as new wheels and contrasting black roof and pillars.
