Spied in the metal – Kia Forte Sedan / K3 shows its updated design without any disguise image

This is Kia’s bad security day – after the previous photos with the 2016 Cadenza / K7 now it’s the turn of the Forte Sedan / K3 to showcase the exterior design without any camouflage on.

The undisguised pre-production model of the Kia K3 has been naturally caught by the spy photographers somewhere at home in South Korea. Judging from the revealing pictures, the exterior modifications that came with the facelift have been dialed down and we only noticed subtle tweaks to the front and rear bumpers corroborated with updated graphics for the light units. The radiator grille has also been touched and the tiger-nose design comes a little more rounded at the extremities, while from the side the refreshed K3 looks virtually identical to its predecessor. The K3 KDM – internationally called the Forte sedan – is the three volume version of the cee’d hatchback and its release is expected before the end of the year followed by a North American presentation sometimes in the first part of 2016. In Europe the model is called the Cerato and is only offered in Russia, where it’s also locally produced.

The prototype we see depicted here appeared to employ the same 1.6-liter turbodiesel engine rated at 136 PS (100 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque, mated to the optional 7-speed dual clutch automatic that sent the power to the front wheels. We could see the US-spec Forte Sedan receiving the 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline mill seen on the newly revealed Elantra, delivering to the north American model 128 PS (94 kW) and 211 Nm (156 lb-ft).
