While a few months back the rumor mill tipped a more hardcore McLaren 675LT bound for March’s Geneva Motor Show and the thing never came up, it appears the project wasn’t actually dead in the water.
This is because we have here a spy shot taken in France on the A26 motorway near Reims that seems to depict a hardcore McLaren 675LT with more power and a lighter body. While the star of the Geneva Motor Show at the McLaren stand actually turned out to be the new 570GT, the upscale version of the manufacturer’s 570S Coupe, the experts from Woking did say recently that McLaren Special Operations is currently developing a “customer commissioning based on the Super Series platform”, meaning something great is still being cooked up. We’re still pretty much in the dark though if this MSO special edition or the hardcore 675LT have been spotted just a few days ago in France, with the vehicle featuring a massive fixed rear wind and a roof scoop.
There’s also a menacing all-black body wrap and this could also turn out to be a circuit-oriented version of the 675 long tail. The body modifications could also conceal a power bump from the series 675 horsepower (496 kilowatts) as well as a weight loss program – the usual 675LT tips the scales at 2,711 pounds (1,230 kilograms, dry). Increased power and less weight means one thing – the series 675 LT credentials (62 mph in 2.9 seconds and 205 mph maximum speed) will become even more impressive.
