VLF Automotive presented last year during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit the Force 1 Coupe – and it’s now on its merry way towards the introduction of the roadster version.
The official unwrapping should take place not during the upcoming New York Auto Show but the distant Auto Shanghai 2017 starting next week in China, though we now have fully revealing images of the model as it prepared for the long transit. The same aggressive design is used all around, but the fixed carbon roof has been dropped in favor of a classic soft top. Meanwhile, all other body panels are made from carbon fiber to secure a low weight, the coupe we know for sure it tips the scales at 1,538 kilograms (3,395 pounds), with the drop top probably adding a few extra pounds due to the conversion process.
If the roadster keeps the same powertrain we’re looking at a Dodge Viper-sourced V10 8.4-liter naturally aspirated engine that was massaged for a huge 745 horsepower (555 kilowatts) and 638 pound-feet (865 Newton-meters) of torque. All the meaty power will be delivered to the rear wheels using a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. The coupe’s performance should be mirrored closely by the open top – 0 to 62 mph (100 kph) in around three seconds and 218 mph (350 kph) top speed.
