Sporty Fiat Aegea / Tipo Sedan tipped away by patent office filling image

The Fiat Aegea / Tipo Sedan appears to be looking to spice up things a bit, as shown by the latest pictures leaked through the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM).

The hotter looking Aegea/Tipo don’t actually look to have the Abarth credentials, and we can safely assume these are just new styling packages – with the truly high-performance version reserved to the Abarth brand for the immediate future. We did see the images depicting a sporty flared model coming with a dual exhaust setup, a rear diffuser, a serious trunk spoiler lip and what appears to look like a sportier – lowered suspension setup. And these could underpin a more powerful version of the Aegea/Tipo instead of a more mundane visual update for a styling package. It could also be called the Aegea S because the model sports a black “356 S” body decal – the number represents the regular model’s internal codename. The design is pretty round and comes with enhanced visuals thanks to the more aggressive front and rear bumpers and bigger side skirts.

Also, the front grille sports a red appearance and the roof and side mirror caps come in a contrasting black hue. We have no clue what the Aegea S would sport under the hood but if we had to bet our money would be on the 1.4-liter turbo with 138 hp (103 kW) and 177 lb-ft (240 Nm) of torque mated to a six speed manual gearbox – the same engine used in the recently introduced Fiat 124 Spider.
