While we’re still almost a week ahead of the June 28 unveiling of the all-new Panamera generation, it appears Porsche has no problem letting the secret out of the bag.
This is because one of the most important announcements for the Zuffenhausen brand, the new generation Panamera sedan, has already been unleashed completely undisguised out in the traffic. And we have a matching image pair to see the model from all angles, with the four door revealed in all its second generation glory. There’s some tape still there, covering the badges – but really, is that a way to conceal a model everyone is expecting and wants to know every little detail? We can see 21-inch wheels, carbon ceramic brakes, and tailpipes that signal this could be an intermediate Panamera S version. We’re eagerly expecting the Turbo S credentials, since Porsche has been bragging the model can do the Nurburgring about as fast as the Carrera GT.
It appears the second Panamera is also getting the second generation of the quick PDK auto transmission, which is said to become 30 percent better in all respects, while also counting eight gears from now on. The engine credentials are known already from the 911 range. The entry-level Panamera will have a single turbo V6, the Panamera S a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 and the Turbo will go with a new and smaller twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 – good for 550 hp and 567 lb-ft of torque. There’s also a V6 diesel and an upcoming V8 Diesel S claiming the same engine as in the Audi SQ7, packing about 435 hp.
