Sprint will offer Chrysler’s Uconnect infotainment system embedded wireless services for its 2013 Ram 1500 pickup and SRT Viper models.

The embedded wireless capability will offer Chrysler’s Uconnect new features such as voice-recognition capabilities, which allow drivers to compose text messages or search navigation destinations with a single touch. They will also have the possibility to connect their gadgets to the car’s Wi-Fi.

Marios Zenios, head of Uconnect systems and services for Chrysler, said that Uconnect offers drivers navigation, communication, telematics services and entertainment. Chrysler chose Sprint for its reliable telematics platform and network, and the company will soon offer information about the packages available for consumers to buy.

“What we’re really good at is really innovating customer experiences, devices, underlying platforms and bringing all of those together to create the kind of customer experience that we hope leads toward responsible driving for the passenger and driver,” said Matt Carter, president of wholesale and emerging solutions at Sprint.

This new system will use Bing as the search engine for point-of-interest sites and it will also be available if customers have a cellphone carrier other than Sprint. The embedded wireless services will be available on th 2013 Ram 1500 pickup and SRT Viper models beginning this fall.
