SSC North American has recently announced that the Tuatara production version is closer to its future customers as the company has completed testing the new twin-turbo V8 engine.

The SSC Tuatara is one of the most expected hypercars to make its way onto the market from the United States and this is now getting closer and closer to its future customers, as the carmaker has recently announced. According to the guys at SSC North America, the testing of the new twin-turbo V8 engine, which will power the Tuatara, has completed testing.

“This is a proud moment for all that were part of the engineering team on this project. This amazingly versatile package has already shown that it can easily be driven on a daily basis in any climate or environment in the world and at the same time can roll out of the pit area onto a track like Nurburgring and easily handle any rigors that record will require. Versatile, efficient, docile, savage… Engineering success”, as the SSC founder and lead designer, Jerod Shelby, said.

The SSC Tuatara will get a 6.9 liter V8 engine under its hood, which will produce a total output of 1,350 BHP (1,007 kW) and it will have a peak torque of 1,733 nm (1,280 lb-ft), with 91 octane fuel. The model can easily exceed 1,700 HP (1,268 kW), as SSC says. Additional details on the SSC Tuatara remain unknown for the moment and they will probably be announced close to the model’s debut.
