Renault appointed Stefan Mueller, 51, chairman of the company’s Europe region beginning September 1st.
Due to poor European sales, which fell 14.9% to 708,131 units compared to last year, Renault decided to appoint a new head of European operations with fewer attributions than Jerome Stoll, the current holder of this position. Mueller would be the member of the Group Executive Committee and would report to Carlos TAVARES, Renault’s chief operating officer.
Stefan Mueller, currently CEO of German motoring organization ADAC, will join Jerome Stoll and focus only on Renault’s commercial offerings. Muller, who has both Swiss and German nationalities, started his career at BMW in 1986 in sales and marketing and was BMW’s head of dealer development in the US. He also worked for Ford Motor’s Premier Automotive Group and Volvo, and in 2003 he joined Volkswagen Group as head of the Audi German market and VW’s retail operations in Germany.
Beginning January 1st, 2013, Thierry Bollore will be EVP Manufacturing and Supply Chain, and Gérard Leclercq would remain member of the Group Executive Committee and take over other responsibilities that the company didn’t reveal yet.
