The Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S sports cars have just been awarded with a Top Safety Pick from the IIHS.
The two budget sports cars made by Subaru and Scion, the BRZ and the FR-S, have just been awarded with a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The two models, which are basically identical, except for the badge and some equipment, have achieved a maximum “good” rating in the front moderate overlap, side impact, rear impact and roof crush crash tests and they have also received the “acceptable” rating in the small front overlap.
According to the IIHS, there have been some risks of injuries found in the lower leg, but the overall protection to the head, chest and hip / thigh region was marked as “good”. Despite missing on the Top Safety Pick+ rating, the two sports cars are offering enough protection for their occupants in case of an impact, so if safety kept you back from adding such a budget rear-wheel drive sports car to your garage, don’t be concerned, because despite their affordable price, they will turn out to be a good “investment”.
