Subaru is currently developing a turbocharged version of the BRZ which is expected to make its way onto the market soon.
The Japanese based automaker Subaru is currently keeping the turbocharged BRZ into the shadows for the moment but rumor has it that the hot version of the sports car is currently under development and the model should be launched soon. The turbocharged Subaru BRZ will get approximately 280 horsepower form the 2.0 liter engine and 250 lb-ft of torque, which will still be sent to the rear wheels.
The turbocharged Subaru BRZ, which might hit the market as the STI, is wearing the 2014 model year in its name, which means that it will be launched next year, probably during the Geneva Motor Show in March or even during the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Not much is being known on the model for the moment and Subaru will probably confirm it close to its debut.
As a quick reminder, the Subaru BRZ is being powered by the same engine found on the Toyota GT 86 too, the four-cylinder 2.0 liter unit, which is producing a total output of 197 BHP, sent ot the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission in standard or through a six-speed automatic available as an option.
