Subaru decides to give some STI flavor to the Forester tS, going to Australia image

The local unit of the Japanese automaker has recently announced the availability of the Forester tS limited series, reaching dealerships in June starting from $54, 990 plus on-road costs.

The model harkens back to the Forester tS that was sold as an exclusive Subaru Japan special edition – of which just 300 examples were available for fans. The spicy model is now making the jump to Australia where it will have the same production capacity – of 300 units – and the local division of the automaker will cater to expectations using a plethora of STI bits and pieces. Unfortunately for the Australian fans, the power increase from the JDM-spec Forester tS has been left out – the Japanese special edition had under the hood 280 horsepower (206 kilowatts) and 258 pound-feet (350 Newton meters) of torque. Instead, the Forester tS AU-spec remains the same 240-hp powered car thanks to the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, mated to a CVT and a symmetrical all wheel drive system.

The Forester tS has been developed starting from the Forester XT Premium and adds $12,000 worth of extra content – the price bump being of only $7,000. Among the highlights we can mention the black front grille, Brembo brakes, 19-inch Enkei wheels, as well as STI enhanced parts like the dampers and coil springs which lower the SUV by 15 mm. There’s a black interior trim and exterior paints include Crystal White Pearl, Crystal Black Silica or WR Blue. The Subaru Tecnica International touches in the cabin include badges, a red push button start, red accents, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and suede door trims.

FYI – no one is Australia (actually pretty much the whole world) says ‘Gasoline’. Only Americans do.
