Subaru teases 2016 XV Concept in time for Geneva Motor Show image

The Japanese automaker has decided to preview the all-new generation of the XV crossover via a concept that is set to debut early next month during the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

Subaru has decided to let us marvel at the possible design of the preview concept by enticing us via a teaser image – the attached photo is definitely not revealing too much of the sneak preview for the next-gen XV. But since past outings are clear indications, we’re betting the new generation XV will look like a more off-road ready version of the Impreza 5-Door Concept – which also serves as a preview to the Impreza hatchback that will be released soon. We’re hoping that in both cases the bold exterior design choices won’t get lost on their way to the assembly line.

As far as we know the all-new Xv generation will be underpinned by a new modular architecture shared with the future Impreza sedan and hatchback. The corresponding Impreza concepts both had a wheelbase of 105.1 inches (2.67 meters) and this might not be a coincidence and all three models, XV included, would keep the specification. There’s no word on powertrain choices, but the rumor mill has advanced lots of theories – new generation with cylinder deactivation technology for efficiency, new injection system and downsizing. We’re hoping some of the answers will be delivered on March1 when the new XV Concept will make its official worldwide public premiere during the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
