The Japanese automaker first promised the arrival of a new, fullsize SUV ahead of the 2016 edition of the LA Auto Show – and they’re now ready to introduce the model previewed by the Viziv-7 concept.
The model was followed by the Subaru Ascent this year during the New York Auto Show and we’re now just about ready to witness the arrival of the namesake production series model, scheduled to debut on November 28 during this year’s edition of the Los Angeles Auto Show. Naturally, Subaru is making sure everyone knows about their new arrival by means of teasing us to the lines of the new crossover. Of course, no one expects the real Ascent to follow closely in the lines of the previewing concepts, but at least it will most likely mirror closely the dimensions of the latest prototype – 198.8 inches long, 78.3 inches wide, and 72.4 inches tall.
The Subaru Ascent is set to measure its forces against some of the segment’s heavyweights, including the new VW Atlas, and for that matter feature an exclusive North American production location in Lafayette, Indiana starting next year. Naturally, all-wheel drive of the symmetrical type is involved, along with an alleged new turbocharged boxer engine using direct injection. The Ascent is of course the B9 Tribeca spiritual successor, but comes with modern underpinnings, riding on the Subaru Global Platform that was first seen along with the 2016 Impreza.
