The Japanese automaker has decided to call for the traditional swan song for the current generation high-performance WRX STI in the United Kingdom, appropriately nicknamed the Final Edition.
Subaru might never bring a new WRX STI to the United Kingdom after these last cars are being built, with its new emphasis on new platforms and alternative fuels – thus possibly putting an end to a model line that traces its roots back to the glory rally Impreza models from the 1990s. The Subaru WRX STI Final Edition for UK comes with 19-inch wheels to bring massive Brembo brakes, with yellow-painted calipers. The company’s designers have also tweaked the design of the front bumper – it features a blacked out and larger lower grille for improved cooling performance. There’s also a Final Edition badge plastered on the door to denote its special status.
Moving inside the cockpit, the WRX STI Final Edition arrives with high gloss black inserts for the instrument panel, gearstick surround, door panels and steering wheel, complimented by red stitching and red seatbelts. A plate next to the stick will remind the driver which number of the limited run of 150 each car stands for. There are also creature comforts – heated front seats, bigger 5.9-inch multi-function display atop the dashboard, along with an updated design for the instrument panel, DAB radio for the infotainment system and even a reversing camera.
