The Japanese based automaker Subaru has recently announced its plans to introduce the XV Crosstrek Hybrid during the 2013 New York Auto Show, along with a new concept car.
The Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid, as it will be known across the United States once it will go on sale, is expected to bring what’s best out of both worlds, combining the abilities of a crossover which was designed to work off-road, with the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions provided by the addition of an electric motor. Subaru says that the XV Crosstrek is the most fuel-efficient and lowest-emitting all-wheel drive hybrid crossover in the United States, and this should attract more customers into the brand.
Power to the Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid is being provided by a four-cylinder Boxer engine, mated to an electric motor and a battery pack, a combination which is able to improve the standard 162 g/km of CO2 emitted and the 7.0 liters of fuel burned. Besides the Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid, the carmaker will also bring a new “performance car concept” to the same 2013 New York Auto Show. No details on this model have been announced until now.
