The French automaker is interestingly showing us the camouflaged Megane RS hot hatch yet again… in a snowy scenery, while we’re just about ready to hit the pool and seaside for some much-needed tan.
The company is still sharing some of its development efforts – mostly because they know fans love this particular model and also because showing camouflaged prototypes doing their work has become all of a sudden highly fashionable among carmakers. The camouflaged prototypes seen here were undergoing cold-weather development and while there are no new details about the upcoming Megane family flagship, we get to see it looking decidedly ready to hit the streets. We also got a look at the uncovered model through an Internet leak and we know the front end is carrying the bulk of the work with a complicated styling and the new RS signature – LED lights at each corner with a shape honoring the competitional checkered flag.
There are no pictures of the interior anywhere to be found just yet, but we can bet on a set of body-hugging seats up front, as well as leather and Alcantara and even some carbon fiber for good measure. What we’re annoyed with is the lack of details about the powertrain – the company has only said it will offer the choice of a manual or a dual-clutch automatic gearbox to satisfy everyone. We also know the Megane RS will remain front wheel driven, and we shouldn’t be surprised if the optional four-wheel steering system from the Megane GT becomes the norm.
