The on-road performance of the 2013 Cadillac ATS compact luxury sedan will be the focus of a new advertising spot this Sunday during the U.S. television broadcast of Super Bowl XLVI, the company said in a statement on Monday.
According to Cadillac, the ATS is one of the lightest rear-drive cars in its segment, tipping the scales at less than 3400 lb. while maintaining a nearly even 51/49 percent weight distribution front to rear.
It’s GM’s latest shot at the BMW 3 Series, which is still the best-selling luxury car in America.
The car’s sales launch this summer will mark Cadillac’s first foray since the 1980s into compact cars, which have the most sales of any luxury segment.
The Cadillac will come with as many engine trim options as its German rivals, offering a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder base power plant producing 200-hp, a 270-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder and a 318-hp 3.6-liter V6. Expect a diesel engine offering later in the ATS lifecycle as well.
