The Japanese based automaker Toyota has unveiled a supercharged version of the Auris, during the Johannesburg International Auto Show, named the TRD, which will replace the current SportX, making the small vehicle a true hot-hatch thanks to its power and performance.
According to the Japanese automaker, the Auris TRD, presented in South Africa, is powered by a 1.6 liter petrol engine which is delivering 181 horsepower at 6.400 rpm and a peak torque of 202 Nm at 5.200 rpm, mated to a six-speed manual transmission which is sending power to the front wheels and standing on a TRD Sportivo suspension kit to keep things in line.
The Toyota Auris TRD Supercharged may not be as powerful as a VW Golf GTI but the Japanese sure made an interesting version of the pocket-rocket which can definitely compete with the Opel Astra 1.6 Turbo.
The supercharged Auris TRD also comes with an interesting body kit which turns the attention to the hot-hatch which is now rolling on larger 17 inch alloy wheels. Even if Toyota didn’t officially announced the price of the Auris TRD Supercharged, rumors say that the hatchback will cost below the R300.000 mark.
