Tata Motors Ltd. (TTM) said Friday its global vehicle sales rose 24 percent in February from a year earlier, as continued strong sales of its luxury Jaguar Land Rover vehicles offset slower growth in India.
Global sales of all commercial vehicles – Tata, Tata Daewoo and the Tata Hispano Carrocera range — were 57,857 nos., in February 2012, highest ever in a month, while global sales of all passenger vehicles were at 69,461 units.
In addition, sales of trucks and buses grew 24% to 57,857 vehicles.
Sales of its Jaguar Land Rover brands stood at 32,257 vehicles in the month, a rise of 49 percent, thanks to strong demand for its new compact Range Rover Evoque SUV model.
The announcement comes shortly after the Indian automaker said last week that is planning to launch 230 showrooms for its cheapest Nano car in the next 12 months. At present, the company has 120 exclusive Nano showrooms.
The company posted a 40.5% rise in profits in the quarter to end-December.
