Tata Motors ‘ global sales in May rose percent year-on-year to 96,089 vehicles, after its UK -based luxury brand Jaguar-Land Rover posted high sales last month.
Jaguar Land Rover sales accelerated 35% to 30,094 units last month, the Indian carmaker said. While Land Rover sales surged 42% to 25,752 units, Jaguar sales rose 3% at 4,342 units.
While some automakers are cutting volume guidance for the coming period, Jaguar Land Rover has added a third shift of about 1,000 employees each at the Halewood and Solihull plants to meet higher sales and future product actions.
Commercial vehicles sales grew 3% to 45,025 units from the same month last year, it added.
Tata Motors surged over 4 percent in trade on Friday after the company reported global vehicle sales.
Tata Motors is India’s largest automobile company, with consolidated revenues of Rs. 1,65,654 crores ($ 32.5 billion) in 2011-12.
