Tata Motors’ total sales in December 2011 were 82,278 vehicles, higher by 22% over December 2010, the Indian automaker said.
The company’s domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for December 2011 were 76,663 nos., higher by 24% over 61,685 nos., sold in December last year.
However, the company’s exports declined marginally to 5,615 vehicles during this month, as compared to 5,809 units sold in the same month last year.
In December, 2011, the company sold 47,747 commercial vehicles in the domestic market.
“Light commercial vehicle (LCV) sales were 29,500 units, a growth of 20 per cent compared to 24,558 vehicles sold in December last year. Medium and heavy commercial vehicles (M&HCV) sales stood at 18,247 units, a growth of 5 per cent, compared to 17,428 vehicles sold in December last year,” the statement said.
The passenger vehicles sales jumped 47% to 28,916 units in December 2011 over in December 2010. Sales of the Tata Nano surged 29% to 7,466 units while the Indica range sales advanced 57% to 9,307 units.
Strong demand for diesel vehicles continues to drive the passenger vehicle segment’s performance, with sales of Indica and UV models soaring 57 per cent and 90 per cent, respectively, from a year earlier.
