The Indian based Tata Motors is planning to launch a diesel version of the Nano model at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo in 2012.
The mainstream feature of the new Tata Nano Diesel will be the economy figures and, according to the manufacturer, the variant will be more expensive than the regular Nano. Even if we don’t have any official details about the Tata Nano Diesel, the model is expected to provide around 32-35 km/L in an average fuel consumption, which is way better than what the regular vehicle can do, which is about 25.5 km/L. Tata Motors is planning to introduce a number of enquiries for the diesel version which include seat cushioning and upholstery with new color combinations, along with an anti-roll bar, an improved suspension system and power steering.
The new Tata Nano Diesel is expected to be powered by an 800 cc, two-cylinder common rail diesel engine and even if the total output is not known, rumors say that it will be around 35 horsepower and 110 Nm of torque. The top speed is expected to be the same as the regular Nano, which is 105 km/h. The Nano Diesel is expected to be priced at Rs. 60.000, which is more than the petrol version and the new model will be launched at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo, in January.
