Taxi driver arrested on weapons charge image

An Irving cab driver remains behind bars after firefighters found suspicious materials inside his home Sunday. Sharif Ahmed Nour, 41, was initially going to be charged with possessing bomb-making components, but that was amended to possession of prohibited weapons, according to WFAA-TV (Channel 8).

Police said it started with a report of a fire in an apartment in the 3600 block of Block Drive in Irving around 11 a.m. Sunday morning. Firefighters called police to when they found suspicious materials inside the apartment where the fire started.

“We came home and we saw the hazardous material truck, and investigation unit,” said Christy Dean, who lives nearby.

Like many who live in the apartment complex, Dean returned from church Sunday to find federal investigators right outside her front door.
While Dean said she’s worried about her safety, Argumaniz said the materials pose no threat to the public.
The bomb squad and hazardous materials experts were dispatched a short time later. At the time, police said the contents of the apartment did not pose a threat to the public.
